Terms of Business
OUR SERVICE
This document sets out the Terms of Contract established between us (Britten Farriery Ltd) and you (the registered animal owner or individual requesting our services), when you ask us to provide professional farriery services. Accepting these conditions confirms that you are over 18 years of age.
◦ Appointments can be made by telephone or text between 7am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
◦ Time slots are allocated for your appointment. We always try to keep to the allocated appointment slot that has been given, however, from time to time appointment slots may need to be adjusted. We will always advise clients of this, as soon as possible, or you are welcome to call the mobile number for an arrival time.
◦ If a client cancels within 24 hours of their appointment, or fails to attend the appointment, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee.
◦ Work on may be carried out by any member of the Britten Farriery Ltd team, or subcontractor under our authority.
SAFETY
◦ Horses are to be handled by the owner, groom or appropriate adult. Britten Farriery Ltd accepts no liability or responsibility for catching or moving horses to and from the shoeing area.
◦ A safe working environment should be provided with clear hard standing and shelter from the rain. Water and electric provisions are required for shoeing appointments. Horses should be presented clean and dry where possible. We may ask you to change the horse’s rug if it is particularly wet and muddy.
◦ The owner or appointed adult will be required to be present whilst work is carried out. In the event the horse becomes impatient of fractious while work is carried out, the owner or appointed adult may be required to hold the horse.
◦ Safety is a priority for Britten Farriery Ltd. We reserve the right to stop working on a horse, with immediate effect, should we feel it is unsafe to continue to do so.
PAYMENT TERMS
◦ Invoices are issued via email following any work by, or attendance of, Britten Farriery Ltd. Invoices are due on receipt.
◦ All fees for professional advice, services and goods are subject to VAT at the applicable rate.
◦ Payment for invoices are to be made by BACS using the bank details provided on our invoice. Please quote your invoice number on any payments made. Card payments can be made on the day, at the appointment.
◦ Outstanding invoices are subject to a late payment charge after a period of 7 days after issue of the invoice.
◦ In the event that a client has an invoice outstanding, there will be no further visits, shoeing or trimming until the invoice has been cleared.
◦ In the event you are unable to pay your invoice according to our terms, please contact Stephen Britten directly, as soon as possible.
◦ There will be an annual price rise in line with inflation.
LOST SHOES & EMERGENCIES
◦ If a lost shoe occurs in less than 7 days of your appointment, it will be replaced free of charge.
◦ Charges apply for refitting a lost shoe. If the lost shoe cannot be found, the cost of the replacement shoe will be charged.
◦ Every effort will be made to accommodate emergency call outs related to farriery. These will incur a call out fee. Please be advised that you should contact your veterinarian in the event of an emergency.
COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE
◦ In the event that a client wishes to raise a complaint. Please contact Stephen Britten directly, either verbally or via email, and he will strive to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
OTHER
◦ By using the services provided by Britten Farriery Ltd you are accepting that we can use photos or X-rays (or any other diagnostic imagery) for educational and social media use. These will be used respectfully to the client and horse but any images taken or X-rays sent to Britten Farriery Ltd are then the property of Britten Farriery Ltd, to use as we see fit.
Privacy Policy And General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
◦ Britten Farriery Ltd will not share your personal data with any 3rd party. Any issues with the equine will be shared with the vet upon request
◦ All data is stored on password protected devices
◦ All data is destroyed after 7 years, please contact us if you would like your data removed from our database.
