Frequently Asked Questions
Here is some information about Britten Farriery, how we operate and what we expect from you as a client
Payment Information
Please refer to our price list
We take cash, card and bank transfer. Payment is due upon completion of work / upon receipt of your invoice, unless otherwise agreed. Late payment may be subject to interest.
We do not offer any credit, however, if you are having short term issues, please get in contact, and an arrangement may be made - at our discretion.
Yes, unless within a week of the initial shoeing. This costs us time and stock, shoes do not just fall off!
Nope!
You are paying for our time, expertise, please do not devalue it, as well as our stock.
We invoice for all our work, you can pay with cash.
There is not a simple answer to this, but will be approached on a case by case basis. Get in contact with your requirements.
Appointment Basics
The horse needs to be caught, clean and dry, on a level hard standing, in a secure area, at a minimum, at the time of your appointment.
Ideally with shelter, we also require water and electricity (for shoes)
Nearby, should be tools to clear up after the horse, and sweep up after the shoeing.
An unwritten rule is a cup of tea!
No. Our insurance does not cover us to be responsible for your horse. Someone must be present to hold the horse
Be honest, we can approach the situation in a different way to keep everyone safe.
Sedation, either oral or intravenous may be necessary, please contact your vet to arrange this.
We reserve the right, under the Farriers Code of Conduct, to refuse to carry out / finish any work on the grounds of safety. Please respect this decision in the unlikely case we need to.
A charge for our time may be applicable.
We tend to give time windows, mostly because things can take longer than expected, there's traffic, there is an extra one to do, or some times one less to do.
If you have time constraints, please let us know when booking and we can arrange it, usually at the start of the day, if available.
Please let us know as soon as possible so we can re-arrange and also book in alternative work.
Failure to let us know within 24-48hrs may be subject to a cancellation charge - see here
